October 16, 2024 8:50 PM - 8:50 PM

Date: Saturday, February 18, 2023

Time: 10 AM-12 PM

Location: Rice Lake Preserve Trailhead, Rice Lake Road, Marathon County (directions below)

Description: Join NCCT and our friends from the Central Moraines Volunteer Chapter of the Ice Age Trail Alliance for a snowshoe /winter hike on the new White Cedar Segment of the Ice Age Trail through the Rice Lake Preserve! We’ll meet at 10 a.m. at the Trailhead next to the Rice Lake Boat Landing. Plans are to hike (or snowshoe) the 2/3-mile trail, which includes an 873-foot boardwalk through a pristine cedar swamp, then turn around and return to the trailhead. Total distance is about 1.2 miles. Hot beverages and some trail snacks will be provided. Optional social at a local establishment to follow.

**Winter conditions may result in uneven-footing on parts of the trail. Please bring crampons/ice cleats, trekking poles, snowshoes, etc. as needed for a comfortable, safe walk.

Registration: This hike is free and open to the public with no pre-registration required. All are welcome! Please check for updates on the Central Moraines Chapter Facebook page. Contact Becky (715-344-1910, outreachncct@gmail.com) or Gail (centralmoraineschapter@iceagetrail.org) with questions.
