Happy New Year from NCCT! Thank you for another great year of conserving the natural heritage of Central Wisconsin through the protection of land. Since NCCT was established in 1996, you have helped to protect a total of 4,958 acres of land in NCCT’s eight-county service area. That is something to be proud of! Here are some highlights from 2022. Thank YOU for being a part of it!
1 conservation easement transferred to NCCT (17.5 acres)
Visited all of NCCT’s conservation easements (59) to ensure they remain protected
Over 2,500 native plants ferried across the Wisconsin River and planted on NCCT’s Bukolt Island
$26,136 grant awarded to NCCT by the Wisconsin Public Service Commission for energy efficiency improvements at NCCT’s office/ Land Conservation Center
$10,250 raised during the summer fundraiser to help complete the energy efficiency improvement project, along with an additional recent pledge of $1,100 to ensure all proposed project improvements are successfully completed!
Volunteers, USFWS, and NCCT staff spent several days working at NCCT’s Suszko Ridge property in Waushara County on habitat restoration and enhancement projects
Lexi Peirce completed her internship with NCCT during the spring semester, and has now graduated from UWSP. We wish her well on future endeavors!
An interpretive hike led by Bob Freckmann was held at John Shillinglaw’s Mecan Prairie conservation easement property in Waushara County
NCCT’s Annual Fall Harvest Dinner brought our supporters together again and raised nearly $8,500 for NCCT
NCCT’s Volunteer Distinguished Service Award was presented to past Board President and current volunteer, Attorney David M. James
NCCT established a new endowment fund with the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin
Inaugural year of bird-banding on Bukolt Island started by Susan and Joy Schuller
Invasive species control workdays were held on NCCT properties in collaboration with Golden Sands RC&D
Eagle Scout Candidate Aaron P. planned and hosted a buckthorn-removal work day at the Hidden Trail Conservation Easement in Wausau as part of his Eagle Scout service project
